At the same time, modern recording requirements are not ignored. The device combines the classic, analog sound character with modern features that are specially tailored to the needs of modern studio environments. It uses custom-built input and output transformers from CineMag USA, manufactured to the exact specifications of the original models, ensuring the characteristic analogue sound. The 100% analogue signal path enables detailed, precise compression with a frequency response of ± 1 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. In addition to traditional controls such as attack, release, ratio, input and output, the device offers stereo link functions and a flexible dry/wet mix control for parallel compression. The WA76-A has variable sidechain high-pass filtering in the range from 30 to 300 Hz with 12 dB/octave, which enables targeted frequency control. A selectable input impedance (600 Ω or 10 kΩ) ensures compatibility with modern audio interfaces. Thanks to Active Bypass and True Bypass, the compressor can also be used for precise A/B comparisons. The class-A line-level output amplifier and the vintage-spec attack and release times also enable fast and precise dynamic control, while the "all buttons in" setting allows for experimental and creative compression effects. The device is housed in a robust 2 HU 19-inch rack case and has three-pin XLR and 6.35 mm jack connections at the rear. This FET compressor is ideal for a wide range of applications such as vocal processing, drum overhead and room mic compression and dynamic guitar control.
