The drums are made by Sonor according to the proven CLTF principle, so the wood layers are cross-glued at 90°. The lugs of Sonor's AQ2 series are all equipped with the TuneSafe system, for constant tuning. The bearing edges are 45°, so there is an exact head support and a focused tone. The new Sonor Smart Mount tom suspension was developed in Germany and ensures low shell contact and unobstructed resonance. Sonor AQ2: Maple drum shells All drums of the AQ2 series are made of seven plies of maple. Three plies of Canadian maple are wrapped by two plies each of Asian maple on the outside and inside. This results in a very warm and focused tone with a deep fundamental character. The Bass Drum is 7.2 mm thin and Toms / Snare only 5.8 mm, this contributes significantly to the balanced and resonant sound. In addition, the individual wood layers are cross-glued at a 90° angle, so the shell remains tension-free. The lugs are all equipped with the Sonor TuneSafe system, so tuning reliability and constant sound is ensured. Also, the exact 45° bearing edge allows easy tuning and perfect head support and focuses the sound additionally. World novelty: Sonor Smart Mount The tom-toms of the Sonor AQ2 series are suspended using the Smart Mount system. This novel mounting system for drums was manufactured by Sonor in Germany and impresses with its minimalist design and high functionality. The suspension has only two points of contact with the drum shell and allows it to vibrate freely and unhindered. A suspension rail is incorporated in the Sonor Smart Mount System directly into the lug and in addition, there is a high-quality buffer made of hard rubber between the shell and rail for more resonance and balanced sustain. Contemporary finishes and configurations The Sonor AQ2 series is available in five different configurations (Stage, Studio, Bop, Safari and Martini). This means that the right drum kit is available for every application and musical style. No matter if it's a small club gig, street music, recording studio or a big festival - there is the right drum set for everyone. Furthermore, four high-quality lacquer finishes and one wrap finish are available. A great feature of the Sonor AQ2 series is that each drum size in each finish is also available as a single drum, so the own set-up can be expanded and rearranged as desired.
