In case of acute inflammatory states or trauma involving the wrist joint and the sellar and proximal thumb joint, the ManuLoc Rhizo rigid wrist and thumb brace immobilizes the wrist joint and fixes the thumb with a special support. The structure of the orthosis can be modified by following a multi-stage therapy, with a progressive increase in mobility of the thumb, until the fastener is completely removed. The Velcro tab at the thumb can be loosened to gradually restore mobility to the basal joint of the thumb. Once mobility is restored, the thumb support can be removed. This will allow grasping movements with all fingers again; all this while the wrist joint remains stabilized for the time being. The breathable material with integrated holes allows optimal skin transpiration, thus avoiding sweating and itching of the thumb and wrist joint.
