It combines live-oriented operation with the innovative features and high-quality algorithms of 112dB. The desktop device primarily offers two delay types, Tape and BBD, each of which can be stored as a preset. With 12 parameters and a few more in the menu, the effect can be adjusted extensively. The long delay time of up to 4 seconds should be particularly appealing to musicians from the dub and ambient genres. The delay time can run freely or be synchronised to the tap tempo input or MIDI clock with multiplier/divider values, respectively. The delay's feedback path features a resonant filter with two modes that determine how the signal path interacts with the filter. This allows you to vary the character of the feedback from neutral to heavily coloured. A separate LFO is available for modulating the TIME parameter; when applied, this creates distinctive pitch-shifting artefacts reminiscent of old analogue delays. Additional settings for pitch shift and shimmer, reverb amount, orbit, dry/wet mix and a freely positionable mix ratio for the ping pong effect leave nothing to be desired in terms of how complex a delay effect can be. With 100 presets, there is enough memory to capture your coolest creations. The first 40 presets are factory-set, and another 60 are available for you to use as you wish. Hidden in the menu is the Magic Mode, which is basically a parameter randomizer and provides unexpected results, which can of course be saved. Instead of an abrupt preset change, the Echolocator offers preset morphing. Starting from the current Preset , you can set how quickly the change is carried out until the next Preset is fully "loaded". The options for this range from 0.1 to 10 seconds. Thanks to the full MIDI implementation, it is also possible to control individual parameters via the DAW or a master sequencer. Freeze mode can be activated manually or via a pedal. The signal path is designed for stereo, but mono is also accepted at the audio input. Anyone looking for the latest algorithms with fresh ideas and an accessible user interface should take a closer look at the Echolocator.
