The Yamaha N1X Avant Grand Hybrid Piano at a glance: With the AvantGrand series, YAMAHA now offers the best of both these worlds- a real grand piano touch with a matching authentic feel and a high-quality digital sound generation with 256x polyphony! The Yamaha N1X Avant Grand features a wooden grand piano keyboard that moves a real grand piano action. 88 non-contact sensors precisely register every movement and intensity of the keyboard. A second optical sensor on each hammer shaft in the action additionally measures the time and intensity of hammer movement when the virtual "strings" are struck with finger sensitivity. Sounds There are 15 sounds in the AvantGrand N1x; the two most important are the respective flagships of the YAMAHA and BÖSENDORFER companies. The Yamaha CFX Concert Grand with its dynamic, brilliant & transparent sound character and the Bösendorfer Imperial with its singing and warm "Viennese" sound. Furthermore, there are harpsichord, celesta, organ and electric piano sounds, all of which are successful and offer a nice variety when needed. Sound reproduction The sound is reproduced via an amplifier/speaker system of the highest quality. The natural and authentic output of a grand piano sound through loudspeakers is considered the "supreme discipline" in audio engineering. That's why Yamaha has developed a four-channel spatial acoustic speaker system specifically for the AvantGrand series; it makes the grand piano sounds spatial and defined.
