Het recept voor dit iconische drankje werd halverwege de 18e eeuw ontwikkeld door de apotheker Kunze, toen hij op zoek was naar een wondermiddel. Het drankje, dat snel aan populariteit won, kreeg in 1781 koninklijke toestemming van keizerin Catharina Kleur: Donkerrood. Neus: Fruitige smaak van rijpe kersen, kruidige tonen.
