The instrument is equipped with a very pleasantly playable 88-key Graded Hammer 3 keyboard with hammer action. This mimics the touch of an acoustic piano, ranging from a naturally heavy feel on the lower keys to a lighter touch in the upper octaves. This allows for fast repetition and authentic expressive control that is amazingly close to the feel of a grand piano. The black and white keys are made of replicated ivory respectively ebony. Great attention was paid to the YDP-S55's carrying piano sound, which is digitally reproduced and based on the flagship CFX concert grand piano. Features Thanks to Yamaha's Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM lite) technology, the instrument is able to reproduce the expressive and differentiated sound changes of a real grand piano such as eg. string vibrations. A total of 10 sounds are available. Due to the high polyphony of 192 voices, the YDP-S55 has enough air upwards even when playing fast so that no fading note is swallowed. Four different reverb effects, a Stereo optimizer and the Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) provide for a little more brilliance and spatial sound if desired. The keyboard modes Dual and Layer are also implemented, these allow the distribution and layering of two sounds across the entire keyboard. For rhythmic accompaniment, a metronome can be switched on at any time. To perfect your own playing or to replace the third and fourth hand, the YDP-S55 offers a linear, two-track recording function. MIDI is exchanged with the computer via USB. This is great for musicians who want to use the digital piano for composing and producing together with a DAW. The built-in stereo speaker system with a total of two speakers has a power of two times 20 watts and reproduces the sound events powerfully and brilliantly.
